These Days

Since I am six- yes, six-- days away from finishing my student teaching and being a real life elementary school teacher (eek!), my work load is slowing down and I have a bit more spare time on my hands. With this unaccustomed, uninhibited time, I have been doing a thing or two-- none of it productive, but all of it fun.
1. I have two words for you: GOOGLE EARTH. I've had it on my computer forever, but my master teacher reintroduced it to me a couple months ago. Most recent searches: Kabul, Afghanistan and Paris, France. om nom nom.
2. Moving 3,000 miles away from "home" for college sometimes seems like a terrible idea, but it's at these times I praise the Lord for Skype. Something is so much different/better/personal about watching someone's face and expressions as they talk. Lately, my skype dates have been with Rachel and my new nephew Cedar. If you have skype and we haven't talked, let's get on that.
3. Most of my friends crossed over this hurdle 6 months ago, but my time has finally come. I am almost credentialed and done with my schooling and now on the hunt for the job of my dreams (ha ha). For the first time in my life I am actually excited for the anticipation and adventure of a career I have been working towards for the last 4.5 years... now if God will just choose to provide in the way that I hope!
4. Every year my parents send me an email asking me what I want for Christmas and every year I write back that I don't know. This year I sent an email back that said "a job." I feel too old to make Christmas lists. I don't want an ipod or lots of new clothes. I don't want a salad spinner or other new cooking utensils. What do content 20-somethings ask for?
5. I have never been a big TV person. The extent of my TV watching-- especially through college-- was Oprah and Little People, Big World. These days, though, with a little extra time on my hands I have thought about the shows I would LIKE to watch, but have never had the time (or drive to stay up late to see them). In the last 3 days, I have watched every episode of season two of The Buried Life and have never been happier. So sue me. I think these guys are hilarious.
6. Thanks to Heather, I get free coffee at least once or twice a week. Free coffee gives you the freedom to try new things that you may or may not enjoy. I have found a few gems, but I still return often to my trusty cinnamon dulce latte. Cheers to free time and free coffee.
Sincerly,
crf
